On Friday February 11, 2022, at 4:43 p.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of a robbery that had occurred at the Circle K convenience store located at 151 Bayfield St. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency, cigarettes and grocery items and fled on foot from the scene prior to police arrival. A canine track was conducted, but the suspect was able to elude police.

Less than 12 hours later, Barrie Police responded to the Circle K located at 353 Anne St. North where a robbery had just taken place and again an undisclosed amount of currency, cigarettes and product from the store was obtained.

From the investigations that followed and through the assistance of Circle K, police were able to determine that the same person was responsible for both of these robberies and in each case, they were armed with an edged weapon.

Late Saturday afternoon (February 12, 2022), a keen-eyed officer from the Barrie Police Service was on an unrelated call for service in the downtown area where he recognized the suspect who was responsible for the robberies.

The male, a 35-year-old of no fixed address was arrested without incident and has been charged with 2 counts of robbery. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear next by video on Wednesday February 16, 2022.
