On Tuesday January 17, 2023, just before 11:00 p.m.,  Barrie Police responded to a report of a robbery at a variety store located in a plaza at Duckworth St. and Grove St. East in the City of Barrie.

Responding officers learned that an unknown male, who was in the store just before it closed, approached the counter, and armed with two edged weapons made a demand for cash. The on-duty clerk complied with the request and the suspect fled on foot in a northerly direction with an undisclosed amount of currency. A canine track was conducted after police established a perimeter, but the suspect was able to elude capture.

The suspect is described as male white, approximately 20-28 years of age, 6’1″ tall with a slim build, and what appeared to be long or medium length brown hair showing out the front of his hat. He was wearing an off-white mask on his face, a grey beanie style hat that was covered by a black hoody pulled up over his head that was underneath a red and black plaid jacket, white well worn Nike running shoes with what appear to be pink coloured laces and black pants.

If you recognize the description of the suspect, were in the area and may have dash camera video or may have witnessed a male running from the plaza, please contact Barrie Police at 705-725-7025, extension 2129.
