As a result of an ongoing investigation that was conducted by the Barrie Police High Harm Unit, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant was executed yesterday afternoon at a Madelaine Drive address. A motor vehicle was also seized and later searched at Barrie Police Headquarters.
The investigation, which focused on the trafficking of a narcotic, resulted in police seizing cocaine that had an estimated street value of $13,000 as well as the seizure of a significant amount of Canadian currency.
A 23-year-old Barrie resident has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing today, by video, with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
