A witness and responding police officers from the Barrie Police Service made quick work in arresting a suspect in an early morning theft.
This morning at 6:33 a.m., police were contacted about the theft of a piece of machinery, commonly referred to as a Bobcat, in the Veterans Drive and Salem Road area. Within 12 minutes, police were on scene and speaking with the complainant.
A short time later, the person responsible for the theft was observed exiting an open field and was approached by police. After a brief conversation, he was arrested for Theft and Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued.
The accused, a 31-year-old male of no fixed address in Barrie, was held in custody and is scheduled to have a bail hearing this afternoon, by video, with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
