Last night, just before 10:30 p.m., while two Barrie police officers were completing a call for service in the area of Park Place, they heard something that immediately redirected their attention to the main parking lot area .
A motor vehicle engine that was revving loudly was immediately followed by the sound of heavy acceleration and tires spinning on the asphalt parking surface. This was followed by a cloud of white smoke and the odour of burnt rubber.
The officers immediately attended the area where the involved driver, an 18-year-old male from Stroud was located and charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt, contrary to Section 172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The involved motor vehicle has been impounded for 14 days and the driver has had his licence suspended for 30 days.
