On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 8:39 a.m., the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a suspected robbery at a hotel located on Hart Drive in the city of Barrie.
From the investigation that followed by detectives from the Barrie Police Criminal Investigation Division, it was determined that a 63-year-old male from Richmond Hill, Ontario had been seriously injured after a disagreement with a female.
The male was taken by County of Simcoe Paramedics to a local hospital and was later transported to a Toronto area trauma centre where he is being treated for life threatening head and facial injuries.
Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance of the female suspect as she left the hotel and yesterday morning, shortly before 10:00 a.m., she was located and arrested by a member of the Barrie Police Service on a street south of Queen’s Park.
The accused, who is 33 years old and of no fixed address, was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where she was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and assault. She was remanded into custody for a bail hearing which is scheduled to take place today, by video, with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
