On April 3, 2024, Detectives from the Barrie Police Service Crimes Against Persons Unit, assisted by uniform officers and members of the Service’s Tactical Support Unit, attended a residence located in the Essa Road and Loggers Run area and executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant.

A 19-year-old male, who was wanted in an ongoing sexual assault investigation, was located and arrested at the scene without incident. The male was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear next week in Barrie at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing. Subsequent investigation has resulted in the male being charged with a number of weapons and assault-related offences in relation to two different victims. In both instances, after meeting these women via online dating applications and upon meeting them in person, he assaulted them while brandishing a firearm.

The Barrie Police are concerned that other women may have had similar experiences with this male, pictured above, and are encouraging anyone that has, to contact investigators at 705-725-7025 ext. 2931 or 2932.

Due to a court-imposed publication ban, no further details will be released by police regarding this investigation. Any information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com.
