Last week, the Barrie Police Service investigated a number of occurrences where very obscene and disturbing messages were left in areas that they would be seen by members of the community. In one such incident, a picture of the disturbing message was posted to a social media platform which resulted in a number of calls to police.

On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Barrie Police attended Sunnidale Park and located a construction fence where a message was left, but it had been painted over. Two days later, the wall of an Anne St. secondary school, a picnic table, door to the school, parking lot signs and construction signage were vandalized, and again disturbing messaging was left.

Yesterday, a detective from the Barrie Police Service Criminal Investigation Division was able to obtain video surveillance which has identified a 43-year-old male as being responsible for the acts of mischief. A warrant for this male’s arrest has been requested, and once he is apprehended, further details will be provided.
