On Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 10:29 p.m., the Barrie Police Service received reports of a suspected shooting that had just taken place on the catwalk between Leacock Drive and Kipling Place in the city of Barrie.
Responding officers located the lone male victim, a 45-year-old male from Barrie, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and was later taken to a Toronto area Trauma Centre where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The circumstances surrounding this isolated incident and the search for four suspects has been the focus of an ongoing investigation that is being conducted by detectives from the Barrie Police Service Major Crime Unit. Surveillance video from businesses located in a nearby plaza have provided police with suspect related information and as this was being obtained, officers from the Barrie Police Forensic Identification Unit began to process the catwalk crime scene area.
Within hours of the shooting, a 23-year-old male from Orillia, Ontario, was arrested in Barrie and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters and later charged with Attempt to Commit Murder and Discharge Firearm with Intent. He was held for a bail hearing and has been remanded into custody.
On Sunday April 23, 2023, officers from the Barrie Police Emergency Support Unit conducted an evidence search in Sunnidale Park, while detectives continued to follow up on additional information that would hopefully identify the whereabouts of the three remaining suspects.
That evening, detectives from the Major Crime Unit, who were assisted by members of the Barrie Police Service Tactical Support Unit executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant on a Kipling Place residence where a 29-year-old female was taken into custody. She is also charged with Attempt to Commit Murder and Discharge Firearm with Intent and has also been remanded into custody.
As this investigation continued, Major Crime Unit detectives, were again assisted by members of the Barrie Police Service Tactical Support Unit and executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a home located on Diana Drive in Orillia where a 21-year-old male was taken into custody. He was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued, and he was charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, Discharge Firearm with Intent and Accessory After the Fact. He was held for a bail hearing but has since been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on May 17, 2023.
The outstanding suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Timothy White, who is of no fixed address. He is 5’9, slim build, blonde hair, blue eyes, with acne scaring on his face, wears prescription glasses, is known to wear a cross body satchel and also goes by the names of Logan or Low.
Timothy White is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If anyone knows his whereabouts or sees him out in public, you are asked to call 911 immediately.
