On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, shortly after 10:30 p.m., the Barrie Police Service was notified of a break and enter that had just taken place at a home located on Madelaine Drive.
Upon arrival of police, they leaned that the homeowner was home when three men forcibly entered his residence and proceeded to assault and take some of his belongings. A neighbour intervened and the suspects fled on foot. They were last seen fleeing on foot and running to a car that was parked and waiting for them nearby.
Information was obtained from the victim which included descriptions of the suspects involved and police were also provided a description of the involved motor vehicle. At 10:55 p.m., the involved motor vehicle was observed travelling on Essa Road and a traffic stop was conducted after which two males in the vehicle were arrested and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued.
A 45-year-old male from Tiny Township and a 24-year-old male from Midland were each charged with a number of criminal offences which included break and enter, assault, theft and possession of property obtained by crime. Both males are also facing a multitude of additional criminal charges.
Both were held for a bail hearing that occurred yesterday afternoon by video with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie and afterwards, they were remanded into custody where they will remain until a later date.
