Yesterday morning, at 6:35 a.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at an Owen Street convenience store. Additional information was received that two males had left the store on foot and detailed descriptions of the two were provided by a witness.

Upon arrival, police observed that a pane of glass in the front door had been broken out and that the store had been ransacked. Police were then able to locate the two male suspects a short distance away where they were taken into custody and a considerable amount of stolen property was recovered.

The two males were transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued. As a result, a 38-year-old male and a 52-year-old male, both of no fixed address, were jointly charged with Break and Enter and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000. An existing Bench Warrant, which was held by the Barrie Police Service, was also executed on the 38-year-old male for Fail to Attend Court.

Both men were held in custody for a bail hearing that was scheduled for later in the day.
