On Saturday, April 13, 2024, just after 6:00 p.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a robbery at the Grove St. Plaza.

Upon arrival at the scene, police spoke with an employee of the store that had been robbed and injured during the incident. After tending to the victim, police viewed video surveillance which assisted responding officers with descriptions of the suspects who were wanted for this occurrence.

In just under 25 minutes, police located the suspects and a 22-year-old male from Barrie and a 16-year-old male of no fixed address were taken into custody and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued.

The males were charged jointly with Robbery with a Weapon, Assault with a Weapon and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The 16-year-old youth, who cannot be identified in accordance with provisions contained in the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), was also charged Fail to Comply with a Release Order from an incident that had occurred last Thursday.

Both accused males were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear today for bail hearings.
