On Monday, December 18, 2023, at 8:46 p.m., the Barrie Police Service was contacted by a restaurant located on Fairview Road after two patrons left without paying their bill.

Police learned that a male and female attended to the restaurant and ordered food and drinks which they consumed. Through the course of the evening, the couple consumed a significant number of alcoholic beverages and when they requested more, they were politely told that they could no longer be served due to their level of intoxication. This enraged the patrons and when their bill arrived, they scoffed at it and simply got up and walked out.

The server was in the process of cleaning up the table after the couple left and while waiting for police to arrive, discovered that the fraudsters left behind documentation that identified who they were.

The suspects, a 41-year-old male and a 42-year-old female, who are both of no fixed address in Barrie, were earlier charged by Barrie Police for an incident that had taken place in the afternoon and left behind their release documents.

Attempts were made to locate the couple after they left the restaurant,  but police were unable to do so. As a result, Barrie Police has taken out warrants have for their arrest  for Food and Lodging Fraud.
