On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Barrie Police responded to a report of suspicious activity that was taking place in a Bayfield St. department store parking lot.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m., police spoke to the complainant who had been shopping in a nearby store and advised that when he came out and made his way to his motor vehicle, he observed two males walking around it taking pictures. The males were questioned about their actions by the complainant and left in what was described as a black Ford F-150 pickup truck. A licence plate was obtained, but it was later determined that the plates did not belong to the pickup truck.
Upon arrival of police in the parking lot, they were made aware of the location of the pickup truck and as they approached it, the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. The dangerous manner in which the pickup was being driven limited police from being able to safely stop and conduct an investigation, but police did obtain video and pictures of the driver and the truck from a nearby fast-food restaurant drive thru lane.
The video also allowed police to confirm that the pickup is a 2015-2020 Ford F-150 Supercab, with black steel rims, mismatched tires on the driver’s side and either painted or blackened licence plate covers.
If you recognize the driver from the provided pictures, you are strongly encouraged to email the investigating officer Constable Hallahan at [email protected].
