On Wednesday May 17, 2023, at approximately 11:21 p.m., a Sergeant from the Barrie Police Service stopped a motor vehicle that had a front headlight out as it pulled into a plaza located at Cundles Road West and Bayfield Street.

When the Sergeant approached the car, he was met with a strong odour of cannabis emanating from the motor vehicle and as a result, the officer commenced a drug related investigation. This resulted in the seizure of some additional cannabis, as well as cocaine, fentanyl and some Canadian currency. A further search of the accused once he arrived at Barrie Police Headquarters reveled that he had concealed some prescription medication on his person.

As a result of this investigation, the accused, who is a 25-year-old male from Oshawa, Ontario, has been charged with a slew of drug possession and drug trafficking charges, as well as Obstructing a Peace Officer and Drive without Proper Headlights. He was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear today by video, with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
