On Monday, March 6, 2023, just before 1:00 a.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service stopped a motor vehicle on Maple Ave. in the city of Barrie after learning that the licence plates that were on the car were not registered to that motor vehicle.
The investigating officers continued the investigation and discovered that the driver, who was elusive with police, was in possession of a large quantity of crack cocaine and suspected fentanyl. A further search revealed that the male was also in possession of heroin, methamphetamine, prescription medication and a large amount of Canadian currency.
The accused, a 21-year-old male from Toronto, was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where he has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – five counts
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – four counts
- Driving While Disqualified
- Use Plates not Authorized.
He has been held in custody for a bail hearing which is scheduled to occur later today by video, with the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
