On Sunday, April 23, 2023, shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service stopped a motor vehicle on Bayfield Street that was being operated by a known suspended driver.

Once stopped, police began to investigate the driver when an unseatbelted passenger was observed in the back seat area. Police were able to determine that the driver was currently wanted on two outstanding warrants for Fail to Attend Court. The passenger was also found to breaching a release order from June last year.

Both males were arrested and as a result of the ongoing investigation, police also located and seized a large quantity of suspected cocaine and Canadian currency.

The driver, a 39-year-old male from Barrie and the passenger, a 23-year-old male also from Barrie, are both facing drug related charges that include Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine and Traffick in a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine.

Both men have been held in custody and are scheduled to appear today, by video, for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
