On February 22, 2021, employees at Princess Auto in Barrie’s south end arrived at the store and discovered that a theft had taken place from the outdoor storage area sometime overnight.
Upon reviewing security footage, it was determined that at approximately 3:00 a.m., a black SUV towing a large, enclosed trailer, pulled up next to a section of the fence surrounding the outdoor showroom. The suspect then exited the vehicle, and using a torch, cut through the steel fence, and took several small items and placed them in the trailer. After leaving at approximately 3:40 a.m., the same vehicle, trailer and suspect returned at approximately 4:20 a.m. and used a rope / winch to pull the opening in the fence wider. The suspect then proceeded to take several larger items. In total, more than $5,000 in merchandise was taken in this incident.
The suspect is described as approximately 6’ tall, wearing a red and black winter jacket, with a blue hooded sweater underneath, blue jeans. a black winter hat, black gloves and black boots. The vehicle is believed to be a black Ford Expedition, and the trailer has clearance lights and aluminum cladding. Both the vehicle and trailer appear to be new.
