This morning, at 7:13 a.m., the Barrie Police Service was notified about an unknown man who was found sleeping in the stairwell of a Wellington Street apartment building.

The male, who was not a tenant of the building, reportedly entered the building as an actual tenant left and made his way to the third-floor stairwell where he was found by police.

The investigating officer asked the male to leave several times, and he refused. As a result of this interaction, the 34-year-old male, who is of no fixed address, was arrested under the authority of the Trespass to Property Act and removed from the property without incident.

The male was later released after being charged with Fail to Leave when Directed, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.
