Yesterday morning, at 6:57 a.m., the Barrie Police Service was advised of an overnight theft of pickup truck and trailer from the rear compound of a pool company located on Anne Street South.

From the investigation that followed, it is believed that the person or persons responsible were able to access a fenced in compound where the 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck and dump style trailer were parked sometime after 6:00pm on Sunday night. The truck and trailer were then driven through a locked gate which caused approximately $3000 damage to the gate.

At 8:38 a.m., Barrie Police received a call about an abandoned pickup truck that did not belong in the Brock Street parking lot where it was located. Then at 9:56 a.m., police received a call for a dump trailer that had been left at a residence located on Big Bay Point Road, east of Yonge Street. With information that was received from concerned citizens, police determined that the truck and trailer were the combination that had earlier been reported stolen from the Anne Street business.

The owner of the truck and trailer was notified, and although his day started off in a rather bizarre way, he was able to attend both scenes, retrieve his stolen property and salvage what could have been a very disastrous day for both him and his business.
