Truck stolen from driveway overnight

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 6:20 a.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service attended a residence on Fox Run after the homeowner awoke only to find that his pickup truck had been stolen overnight.

From the investigation that followed, police learned that the pickup truck, which is described as a blue, 2022 Dodge Ram 1500, was last seen at approximately 9:30 p.m. after the owner secured it with a steering wheel locking device in his driveway. When he came out in the morning, the truck was gone, and the steering wheel locking device was found discarded on the driveway after it had been cut in half.

A canvass of homes in the neighbourhood was conducted, but there was no video surveillance located in the immediate area of the theft.

Police are reminding the public that motor vehicle thefts are continuing to take place and although attempts were made to prevent this theft from happening, opportunistic thieves are finding ways to defeat your efforts. If there is the availability of second motor vehicle in your family, you are encouraged to use it as a blocker to prevent a future theft; by parking it as close as possible to a potentially sought after motor vehicle, your efforts may just help to keep your property in your hands and not in the hands of those who has chosen to participate in conducting criminal activity in our community.
