On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 9:53 a.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Country Lane in the City of Barrie.

Upon arrival, police located the wreckage of an older model passenger car that struck a mid-sized sport utility vehicle that was parked on the road. Oddly enough, police had just taken a report involving the overnight theft of the passenger car and as a result, a 16-year-old youth, of no fixed address, was placed under arrest and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The youth, who cannot be identified under provisions contained within the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) has been charged with Unlawfully in a Dwelling, House, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Careless Driving and Drive Motor vehicle – No Licence.

The accused was held yesterday for a bail hearing and was later released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on May 7, 2024.
