This morning, just after midnight, Barrie Police responded to a report of an unwanted person who was refusing to leave a washroom at a Yonge Street business that was preparing to close.
Upon arrival, police spoke with the male, a 51-year-old Barrie resident, who was known to them, and determined that he was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for Assault, Mischief and Failure to Appear for Fingerprints and Court. The male was arrested and at that time was also found to be in possession of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine.
The accused was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and remains in custody due to the outstanding charges associated with the bench warrant. He is scheduled to appear by video, later today, with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
