Last night, just before 8:30 p.m., the Barrie Police Service arrested the outstanding suspect in the homicide of a 47-year-old male that occurred on the morning of Monday, February 20, 2023.

The Barrie Police Major Crime/Homicide Unit, assisted by members of the Tactical Support Unit, Street Crime Unit and uniformed officers descended upon a Hickling Trail home where a 33-year-old male from Sudbury, Ontario was arrested without incident. He was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued overnight.

The accused is charged with:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Robbery
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

He remains in custody and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie today for a bail hearing.
