The mild weather and warmer temperatures are something that many are embracing, but common sense is still required if you are driving your motor vehicle on city streets and area highways.

Yesterday afternoon, the Barrie Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen who had just witnessed some very bizarre behaviour from some passengers and the driver that were in a car in southwest Barrie. With the driver’s side and passenger side windows down, two adult males were seen extending themselves out the windows. A third adult male was observed sitting on the roof, all while the mid-size silver car was reportedly speeding through a residential neighbourhood in the area of Leslie and Mapleton Avenues.

Unfortunately, the person who called police was unable to obtain a licence plate and there were no additional calls made to police regarding the involved motor vehicle and conduct of the individuals occupying the car.

Barrie Police is reminding motorists and especially drivers, that as the driver, you are responsible for what happens in and around your car and that this stunt could have resulted in serious injury if the driver had lost control, had to brake suddenly or even unexpectedly.

If police had located this vehicle or witnessed this activity, the driver and occupants could have been charged with a number of offences under the Highway Traffic Act or even criminally, if this drive in the mild Spring-like weather, ended in tragedy.
